Guild Guidebook: The Celestial Tournament

In this edition of Guild Guidebook, we will explore the Celestial Tournament and how to beat each trainer. Keep in mind that the strategies used below are what worked for me. If you have a strategy that works, or is better, suggest it in the comments!

Tamers
The Celestial Tournament features a variety of tamers meant to test your maximum capability. The tournament itself is two stages. Stage one is to defeat the three grand master tamers. These can be any of the following combinations:

• Lorewalker Cho, Dr. Ion Goldbloom, Sully "The Pickle" McLeary
• Wrathion, Chen Stormstout, Taran Zhu
• Blingtron 4000, Wise Mari, Shademaster Kiryn

The next round is facing the four legendary celestial battle pets:

• Yu'la, Broodling of Yu'lon
• Xu-Fu, Cub of Xuen
• Chi-Chi, Hatchling of Chi-Ji
• Zao, Calfling of Niuzao

Needed Pets
The pets you will need to beat the above trainers come in many shapes and sizes, but one thing is common: They must be level 25 and rare. Here is a complete list, abilities needed, tamers that correspond, and specified stats (if any):

Lorewalker Cho

• Spectral Porcupette - Powerball, Spectral Strike, Spectral Spine
• Zandalari Anklerender - Hunting Party, Leap, Black Claw (Power/Power Breed Only)
• Death Talon Whelpguard - Blitz, Spiked Skin, Clobber

Dr. Ion Goldbloom

• Warbot - Missile, Minefield, Launch Rocket
• Nexus Whelpling - Tail Sweep, Mana Surge, Arcane Storm
• Wild Crimson Hatchling - Tail Sweep, Healing Flame, Lift-Off

Sully "The Pickle" McLeary

• Mojo - Tongue Lash, Healing Wave, Swarm of Flies
• Sandy Petrel - Thrash, Cyclone, Lift-Off

• Sunreaver Micro-Sentry - Fel Immolate, Extra Plating, Call Lightning

Yu'la, Broodling of Yu'lon

• Mr. Bigglesworth - Claw, Ice Barrier, Ice Tomb
• Backup - Any strong against Dragon
• Backup - Any strong against Dragon

Zao, Calfling of Niuzao

• Sunreaver Micro-Sentry - Fel Immolate, Call Lightning
• Zandalari Anklerender - Hunting Party, Black Claw
• Zandalari Kneebiter - Hunting Party, Black Claw

Healing Pets

You may have noticed above that certain tamers were blue in color. This is because they are considered "healing tamers". You need a pet with a strong group heal (such as Bleat or Inspiring Song) to go first, and your injured (not dead) pets to go in the next slots. Then, just cast the heal, forfeit, and repeat until pets are fully healed.

Strategies

Below will be the strategies (what to use and when) for each tamer. If you have an alternate strategy that works just as good, feel free to post in the comments. Just click the tamer to see the strategy.

Lorewalker Cho

• Lorewalker Cho starts with Wisdom
• Start with Spectral Porcupette
• Spectral Spine - If this misses, or does not blind Wisdom, just forfeit and restart the battle.
• Spectral Strike
• Powerball
• Powerball
• Wisdom should be dead. If Spectral Porcupette dies before killing Wisdom, swap in Death Talon Whelpguard and use Blitz.
• Lorewalker Cho brings out Patience
• Swap to Zandalari Anklerender
• Black Claw
• Hunting Party
• Hunting Party continued
• Leap - If Patience is not already dead, he should be at this point.
• Lorewalker Cho brings out Knowledge
• Swap to Death Talon Whelpguard
• Clobber
• Blitz
• Spiked Skin
• Blitz
• Blitz - Knowledge should be dead at this point.

Dr. Ion Goldbloom

• He starts with Screamer
• Open with Warbot
• Minefield
• Swap to Nexus Whelpling
• Arcane Storm
• Mana Surge
• Mana Surge continued
• Screamer will use Feign Death when he reaches half health. Dr. Ion will swap to Trike
• Minefield hits Trike, and with luck, Mana Surge hits Trike.
• Swap to Warbot
• Is Trike more than, or close to, Half Health?
  Yes - Use Rocket Launcher for two turns (charging and damage)
  No - Use Missile. He should be dead, but if not keep using Missile
• Dr. Goldbloom brings out Screamer
• Minefield
• Launch Rocket - Charging
• Warbot generally dies, but then resurrects with mechanical passive.
• Launch Rocket - Damage
• Screamer should be dead at this point.
• Dr. Goldbloom brings out Chaos, and gets hit with Minefield
• Missile
• Continue Missile until Warbot is dead.
• Bring out Wild Crimson Hatchling
• Did Chaos use Uncertainty?
  Yes - Use Lift-Off
  No - Use Tail Sweep
• If below half health, use Healing Flame
• Continue until Chaos is dead

Sully "The Pickle" McLeary

• Sully starts with Socks
• Open with Mojo
• Tongue Lash
• Swarm of Flies
• Healing Wave
• Tongue Lash
• Tongue Lash
• Swarm of Flies
• Continue until Socks casts Unholy Ascension and dies.
• Sully will then bring out Monte
• Healing Wave
• Continue until Tongue Lash and Healing Wave as necessary until Mojo dies.
• Bring out Sandy Petrel
• Cyclone
• Thrash
• Try to coordinate Sandy Petrel's Lift-Off when Monte burrows.
• Continue to maintain Cyclone debuff and use Thrash until Monte is dead.
• Sully brings out Rikki; Try to coordinate Sandy Petrel's Lift-Off with Rikki's Bloodfang.
• Continue to maintain Cyclone debuff, and use Thrash until Sandy Petrel is dead.
• Bring out Amber Moth
• Moth Dust
• Slicing Wind
• Try to coordinate Moth's Cocoon Strike with Rikki's Gnaw or Bloodfang.
• Continue until Rikki is dead.

Wrathion

• Wrathion starts with Cindy
• Open with Brown Marmot
• Chomp - If this attack misses, forfeit and restart the battle
• Chomp - If this attack misses, forfeit and restart the battle
• Burrow - Avoids Ice Tomb and Diseased Bite
• Crouch
• Continue process until Cindy is dead
• Wrathion swaps to Alex
• Continue to use Chomp until Brown Marmot is dead.
• Bring out Scourged Whelpling
• Dreadful Breath
• Dreadful Breath continues
• Dreadful Breath continues
• Call Darkness - Use before Alex's second Ancient Blessing

  Yes - Use Dodge, then Flurry
  No - Continue to next step
• Blingtron brings out Banks
• Continue to use Arctic Hare. Prioritize Dodge, Burrow, and Flurry until Arctic Hare is dead.
• Bring out Emperor Crab
• Shell Shield
• Are there 2-5 charges on Emperor Crab's shield?
  Yes - Continue to next step
  No - Use Shell Shield
• Is Emperor Crab below 60% health?
  Yes - Healing Wave
  No - Use Snap
• Continue until Banks is dead. 
• Blingtron brings out Lil' B
• Continue to use Emperor Crab until Make it Rain debuff has ended.
• Swap to Lava Crab
• Conflagrate
• Has Lil' B used Extra Plating for the second time or more?
  Yes - Use Cauterize
  No - Use Conflagrate if available, otherwise use Burn
• After using his second Extra Plating, Lil' B almost always uses Blingtron Gift Package. This is his hardest hitting ability, and can allow for the largest cauterize heal when it hits.
• Continue to prioritize Conflagrate, Burn, and Cauterize as needed until Lil' B is dead.

Wise Mari

• Wise Mari starts with Carpe Diem
• Open with Amber Moth
• Moth Dust - If this attack misses, or puts Carpe Diem to sleep, forfeit and restart the battle
• Cocoon Strike
• Alpha Strike
• Alpha Strike - Carpe Diem should be dead at this point
• Wise Mari brings out Spirus
• Swap to Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling
• Decoy - If Spirus begins the fight by casting Soul Ward, use Thunderbolt before Decoy
• Did Spirus just use Soul Ward?
  Yes - Use Thunderbolt if available
  No - Use Breath
• Spirus will use Healing Wave when it reaches approximately 50% health. 
• Continue to use Breath until Spirus is dead
• Wise Mari brings out River
• Continue to use Decoy and Breath until Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling is dead
• Bring out Amber Moth
• Moth Dust
• Coordinate Amber Moth's Cocoon Strike with Dive or Whirlpool
• Otherwise, use Moth Dust and Alpha Strike
• Bring out Small Frog if Amber Moth dies
• Prioritize using Water Jet and Frog Kiss and using Healing Wave as needed, or while River is unattackable during Dive. Continue until River is dead.

Shademaster Kiryn

• Shademaster Kiryn starts with Nairn
• Open with Lofty Libram

• If Summer has Dodge active, save Shock and Awe and Ion Cannon to use when it is attackable again. 
• Prioritize using Shock and Awe, Missile, and only use Ion Cannon when one hit from it will kill Summer. Continue until Summer is dead

Chi-Chi, Hatchling of Chi-Ji

• Open with Pandaren Water Spirit
• Geyser
• Whirlpool
• Swap to Chrominius
• Howl
• Surge of Power - Chi-Chi should be dead.

Xu-Fu, Cub of Xuen

• Open with Sunreaver Micro-Sentry
• Call Lightning
• Swap to Lil' Bling
• Make it Rain
• Inflation
• Inflation continues
• Inflation continues
• Swap to Darkmoon Tonk and cast Ion Cannon if it will kill him, or Shock and Awe first then Ion Cannon.

Zao, Calfling of Niuzao

• Open with Sunreaver Micro-Sentry
• Fel Immolate
• Call Lightning
• Swap to Zandalari Anklerender
• Black Claw
• Hunting Party
• Hunting Party continued - Zao should be dead at this point. 

Yu'la. Broodling of Yu'lon

• Open with Mr. Bigglesworth

• Repeat this strategy until Yu'la is dead. If Mr. Bigglesworth should die at any point, use your backups to kill her.
